About Konstantinos Manthos

Konstantinos Manthos (born 16 October 1965) is one of the most prominent figures in Greek sailing — an Olympian open-sea champion & ocean sailor, and Professor at the Hellenic Naval Academy.

He has an extensive competitive career with major international distinctions and has represented Greece multiple times in the Olympic Sailing Team in the Star class.

Key Achievements

  • Member of the Olympic Sailing Team in 1984, 1988, 1992 and qualified again for 2004 (Star class).

  • 8th place at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games.

  • 12th place at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.

  • Balkan Champion in the Finn class.

  • European Champion in the Star class and in the J/24 class.

  • 13-time National Champion with numerous medals in major regattas.

  • Continuous participation since 1996 in Cyclades Regatta, Aegean Rally and major offshore races, consistently achieving top positions.

Beyond his racing achievements, Konstantinos Manthos has deep experience in Olympic campaigns and high-performance offshore racing, making him an authority in performance sailing in Greece.

Coaching & Professional Career

  • Renowned coach with more than 40 distinctions achieved by his athletes.

  • University lecturer in Physical Education.

  • Highly respected member of the Greek nautical community, frequent speaker and mentor.

  • Holds ISO 9001:1994 certification from Bureau Veritas (BVQI) for operating sailing schools.

  • Since 1990: Instructor/coach at the Offshore Sailing School of the Nautical Club of Palaio Faliro.

  • Since 1994: Sailing instructor and Professor at the Hellenic Naval Academy.
